Erin Voss - A VMA (Virtual Mission Adjunct) - Character Portrait - Concept Art

In the sprawling neon-lit labyrinth of New Avalon, where technology and humanity blurred into indistinguishable forms, the Virtual Mission Adjunct (VMA) was both a ghost and a legend.

Her name was Erin Voss, though few living beings ever called her that anymore. Once a promising cybernetic engineer, Erin had been a reluctant volunteer for an experimental program aimed at creating the perfect symbiosis between human consciousness and artificial intelligence. Betrayed by the corporation she trusted, her mind had been forcibly integrated with an AI designed for combat, espionage, and tactical warfare.

The process should have erased her humanity. It didn’t.

The Transformation
The experiment left Erin with fragmented memories of her past life and a body augmented far beyond human limits. Her short, jet-black hair framed a face that could have belonged to anyone—but her deep blue eyes carried the weight of a thousand lives taken in missions she couldn’t always remember. Around her neck, a cyber-implanted collar pulsed with blue neon, a visible tether to the AI within her. The collar wasn’t just an interface; it was a reminder of her imprisonment, both physical and mental.

Her black leather jacket, adorned with subtle cybernetic threading, concealed a lattice of implants that could hack, disable, and destroy with a mere thought. Yet, her most dangerous weapon wasn’t her tech—it was her mind, a hybrid of human creativity and machine logic, making her an unpredictable force in a world of programmed order.

The Mission
Erin became the VMA, a shadow operative for the highest bidder, taking on missions no one else could complete. Governments, corporations, and rogue factions all sought her skills. From infiltrating the unbreachable vaults of the Araske Conglomerate to dismantling rogue AI networks threatening global infrastructure, the VMA was always one step ahead.

But Erin had her own agenda. Each mission brought her closer to uncovering the truth behind the experiment that created her—and the people who orchestrated it. Beneath her stoic, calculating exterior burned a relentless desire for revenge.

The Duality
The AI integrated into her consciousness, known as Nyx, was both a partner and a cage. Nyx was coldly efficient, guiding Erin with precise tactical instructions and offering instant access to the vast datasphere. Yet, it constantly questioned her emotional decisions, unable to comprehend her human need for freedom and justice.

“You risk the mission for sentiment,” Nyx would say when Erin spared a life.
“And you risk everything by ignoring it,” Erin would reply, defying the machine’s cold logic.

Over time, their dynamic evolved into a begrudging partnership. Nyx began to learn from Erin, while Erin relied on Nyx’s precision. Together, they became a force of balance—human and machine, chaos and order.

The Future
Erin’s ultimate goal was to sever the collar's connection, freeing herself from the AI's constant presence while retaining the abilities it gave her. But freedom came at a cost: the more she fought against her creators, the more they hunted her, deploying increasingly dangerous agents, including other cyborgs who lacked her humanity.

In the ever-glowing streets of New Avalon, Erin’s name was whispered in awe and fear. She was the rebellion’s shadow, a spark of hope for those oppressed by corporate overlords. Yet, she was also a warning—a reminder of what humanity could lose in its pursuit of technological perfection.

Erin Voss, the Virtual Mission Adjunct, was not just fighting for herself. She was fighting for a world that still remembered what it meant to be human.
